Dambisa Moyo - a Harvard and Oxford educated economist - makes a compelling argument against foreign aid to Africa. She shows how billions of dollars in aid actually stifled African economic growth. By offering her own model of an aid-less and consequently more prosperous Africa, she debunks the popular myth that Africa needs to be "saved" by the West. This book is pretty academic, but in light of modern African post-colonial development, it is extremely relevant. It makes you rethink the tired and trite "help the children" narrative. A definite must read.
