Al-Raddi was born 1969 in Sudan. He writes primarily in Arabic. He began writing poetry at age 17.  Translator, Sarah Maguire, wrote: "Saddiq’s dazzling, tender poems ache with longing for all that has been lost, and yet the piercing beauty of their imagery gives rise to hope, and to wonder.”
