Long Walk to Freedom (Nelson Mandela)

"Freedom is indivisible; the chains on any one of my people were the chains on all of them, the chains on all of my people were the chains on me."

Nelson Mandela's iconic autobiography details the early events and impactful moments in his tumultuous life. This book really paints a holistic picture of Mandela the man- not just the political figure. I'm currently on a trip to Johannesburg. Amazingly, I got to spend my day in Soweto and got to see Madiba's former house. He lived on Vilakazi street right before he was sentenced to life on Robben Island. It was so amazing to see the spot where he lived. It was also enlightening to see the vibrant community of Soweto- a highly significant place for the history of Apartheid and South African culture. I absolutely loved it! This book is super long, but trust me- it is totally worth it!
